Product Description
The screen is beautiful. As a Windows user that was always something I envied. This retina is supposed to have a 30% less glare than the MacBook pro without Retina display. I can't say I know for sure (because I don't have a previous macbook to compare it too) but I haven't had a problem with glare.
The overall physical quality of the product is outstanding. Nothing feels cheap, no pieces that don't belong. It's a very attractive piece of equipment and it feels like it will last me a few years.
It works great for me! Some context, mine is the 8GB / 512GB SDD/2.9GHz model and I'm coming from a mid-2009 MBP 15" unibody w/8GB and 768GB HDD. Relative to that model, everything feels snappier. I was concerned about graphics performance as I do use apps like Blender, Aperture and Unity, but all exhibit clear speed improvements despite the lack of a discrete graphics chip. It plays back 1920x1080/60p AVCHD files with no dropped frames. My 2009 MBP struggled to do this. Would only work if converted to ProRes or similar format.
Video editing is going great so far. I've tried out iMovie and it works great with iMovies 960x540 clips. I even installed FCP 6, yes it can be done on Mountain Lion, and that seems fine so far performance wise. Haven't gotten around to FCPX just yet. Working in XCode and Unity, compiles are much quicker.

Retina sharpness is as good as the hype suggests it is. Would've been nice to have the 15", but I'm getting by pretty well with this 13". Resolution can be scaled to 1440x900 or 1680x1050 and both look very good, but 1440 is more comfortable for me. Obviously native Retina is the sharpest, but scaled resolutions are at least as good as most other LCD displays. I also use an external monitor at 1920x1080 a lot and it drives that display with no problems.
It our life is astounding, but like I said I'm coming from an outdated laptop in which 3 hours would be a generous battery life. 7 hours of HEAVY use is a bit more than I could require.
This computer also is sold with some cool features. I seriously dig laptop keyboards backlight. I've never had your personal computer your before and that i do think it is really helpful. The facetime camera can also be of fine quality.
Performance
I've been using this computer about now for various activities like homework, video viewing and surfing the net. This computer leaves me with no wants. It our life is awesome and I would not worry that I must bring my charger university just in case because Yes, it will pull through your day.
The Solid State Drive (SSD) is not any joke. This computer doesn't hesitate to complete anything I ask it to accomplish. 8gb of RAM is much more than I have had on every other computer also it easily handles everything. I'm not just a gamer or an advanced junkie on the other hand do expect my computer to perform quickly and flawlessly. This beast far surpasses my demands. 256 GB might or might not be all you need memory. I have had the pc approximately 30 days and also have a little under 200 GB left. The hard drive, mother board, and battery are typical welded on the chassis. Meaning any modifications will destroy the pc. Therefore, provide you with the model available for you to start with or you will have to buy an hard drive.
We have also found out that while viewing videos for around half 1 hour (like workout videos), a couple of seconds eats about 5% from the overall battery with brightness on the good setting.
Conclusion
Overall I love this computer. I went all crazy and cased it down and got ridiculous unnecessary accessories (like a keyboard cover) but it's all since i love my Macbook pro. While the price tag may be eye-popping, you will get your money's worth out of it.
Now here was something I ran across interesting. If one would look around for a comparable computer, such as an Asus or Samsung, one would find yourself paying almost around you'd with this MacBook Pro. All the computers I've looked at all have touch screen (a feature I do not want) 4GB of RAM and about the same SSD storage. I'm sure those are quality computers.
If you are a software developer, designer, musician or anyone that need a really strong fast performance for work buy this!
If you're a MAC person- you will stick to a MAC. An advanced PC person, justify the value by realizing that MAC's traverses PC's. You do not be disappointed- honestly!!
I still love this computer and hope to keep loving it as I personally use it increasingly more.
